You are still there

It seems we communicate in today's world more often than not, without seeing each other. Many of us use cell phones and computers that provide us with an instant mental connection. Pondering these methods of communication has lead me to the revelation that obviously we do not need to see each other in the physical form to know the other person exists. Based on that theory alone, why would we think someone stops existing once they have died?

When the structure that housed you is gone, it does not mean 'you' cease to exist. If your home is destroyed by tornado or fire, and you escaped safely, it may mean you no longer live there; but just because you don't live there anymore, doesn't mean you no longer live. When we are communicating through a phone call, texting or email, even though we may not be able to see the physical image of the person we are communicating with, we know they still exist.

Today's technology makes it easy to believe in perpetual existence.

I can picture you in my mind when I think of you. I can communicate with you without seeing you, and even though you may not answer right away, that spark of life that makes you who you are still exists, and I am comforted, knowing you are still there, somewhere...

A new day

Should you rise early; before the light of day, before others awaken, you will experience that quiet still time when a day has begun but daylight has not made its appearance. At that hour, the day is so very new, it seems anything is possible.
